Welcome to our vibrant and nourishing community space. To ensure everyone has a positive and respectful experience, we ask that you follow our codes of conduct. By participating and partnering in our community, you agree to abide by these guidelines.
CODE OF CONDUCT
In order to partner, or attend Nourish Botanica and our events, all attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers must agree to abide by this code of conduct (“Code of Conduct”). In order to support an environment that builds community and positive connections, the following behaviors are expected of all visitors at Nourish Botanica.
No damaging property to include in the Making Space Podcast studio, flower arrangements, furniture, garden or indoor plants
No pets allowed
Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants.
Act with respect towards everyone you encounter, including event and venue staff.
Exercise consideration in your speech and actions.
Behave in accordance with professional standards
No littering, use proper waste disposal always
No outside food or beverages allowed
We reserve the right to control volume levels in deep respect to our neighbors
Rain means rescheduling of events
No unauthorized parking in lot. Park in a parking space only.
UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR
Harassment, bullying, microaggressions, intimidation, and/or insinuations that are hurtful or interfere with any other attendee’s experience or participation are unacceptable behaviors. Examples of unacceptable behavior include but are not limited to the following:
Demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behavior or speech, including but not limited to personal insults, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ageist or ableist language or any language that insults or demeans the characteristics of a person protected under U.S. federal, state or local law.
Inappropriate physical contact
Language that implies exclusion or derogation of a person on the basis of the person’s immutable characteristic.
Unwelcome sexual attention, including sexualized comments or jokes, inappropriate touching, groping, or sexual advances.
Violence, threats of violence, or violent language directed against another person or group.
Possession of dangerous or unauthorized materials such as explosives, firearms, weapons or similar items.
Bullying including repeated verbal abuse; verbal, non-verbal or physical conduct of a threatening, intimidating or humiliating nature; or the sabotage or undermining of a person’s performance.
Theft or inappropriate removal or possession of property.
Use, distribution, sale, or transfer of illegal drugs.
Harmful or prejudicial verbal or written comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, age, race, national origin, ethnic origin, nationality, immigration status, language, religion or lack thereof, or other identity marker. This includes anti-Indigenous/Nativeness and anti-Blackness.
Unwelcome comments regarding a person’s lifestyle choices and practices, including those related to food, health, parenting, relationships, drugs, political affiliations and employment.
Nonconsensual photography or recording at Nourish Botanica.
Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following.
Non-consensual physical contact and/or unwelcome sexual attention.
Microaggressions, i.e. small, subtle, often subconscious actions that marginalize people from oppressed groups.
We prioritize marginalized people’s safety over privileged people’s comfort. The administrators will not act on complaints regarding:
Any other illegal activity or forms of harassment not covered above.
The Nourish Botanica staff reserves the right in its sole discretion to determine what constitutes unacceptable behavior and what actions it will take to address incidents that occur.
CONSEQUENCES OF UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR
Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated at Nourish Botanica events. Anyone asked by a staff member or affiliate to stop engaging in unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior or fails to comply with expected behavior at any time during any event, Nourish Botanica may take any action it deems appropriate, including but not limited to removing the participant from the event without a refund.
WHAT TO DO ABOUT UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR
If you witness or are subjected to unacceptable behavior or have any other concerns at a Nourish Botanica-event, notify a Nourish staff member as soon as possible.
